I have never seen a more emotionally intensed film before this. Okay, I will wait to see if Kite Runner will top this, but long after the final credits and haunting theme by Alexadre Desplat has faded, I still felt so sorry and sad for Wong Chia-Chi (Tang Wei), the lead female with the tragic responsibility of seducing a top Japanese collaborator (Tony Leung).
Catch this, uncensored, if you can. It is not for the nudity or whatever that comes with it, but this film is about the complex bond between two unlikely people and you shouldn't miss all the emotions involved. And oh, Tang Wei's costumes are exquisite!
